Owen Desmet, Staff Writer
Senior Owen DeSmet is cool, calm, collected, and ready to take on his new role at the Scituation. As a budding staff writer, he is excited for what's to come. Owen took Intro to Journalism last year, igniting his passion for journalistic writing. Now, he looks to bring that same enthusiasm to the editorial team at Scituate High School.
Outside of journalism, Owen finds astronomy fascinating and can’t wait to learn more in his astronomy class this year. Finance is also an area of interest, as he hopes to make a career out of it someday. He is a member of the French Honor Society and won a SAIL award during his freshmen year for community service. Owen also participates in student government.
Participating in an array of after school activities, Owen has played hockey for seven years and plays the varsity team at SHS. He’s also proud of the indoor soccer team he assembled with his friends. You may also know Owen from TKO Malley’s in Scituate Harbor, where he works.
In the future, Owen wants to go to college and make a living doing something he loves. In the meantime, Owen wants to see his name across the Scituation website, and he wants everyone to know he drives a 1998 Volkswagen Cabrio.
