Teeing up for Success

The Scituate Golf squad teed up their fall season with new leadership and strong newcomers. With seniors Matt Vegnani and Aidan Morley as captains, the boys took their talents to the course in a successful season–and a bit of an underdog story. Since their first match on September 3rd, the squad pushed themselves to a solid record.

Senior captain Aidan Morley had high hopes for the team, as he stated their early success proved that the team was a worthy competitor for a state title this year. Their success came as a bit of a surprise to Morley, as several all-star seniors from last year’s team graduated, but he was pleasantly surprised to find that the squad came together to win matches–despite the loss of several key players.

Their success this season was certainly no coincidence. The team decided to fill 8 roster spots with 12 players as a way to carve out more opportunities for players to shine. Their success can also be credited to the recent freshman class for stepping in and making an impact on the course that boosted the team’s overall performance. Becoming adjusted to the course has also yielded results in terms of the team’s record, which they say has made the course easier to play on.
