Brooke McCarthy

Brooke McCarthy, Staff Writer

President of the class of 2024, Brooke McCarthy (she/her) is eager to join the Scituation team. Known by her peers as kind, hard-working, respectful, mature, genuine, and an all-around leader, McCarthy took an interest in writing for The Scituation after completing Introduction to Journalism during her freshman year. Her older sister, Hayley McCarthy, inspired her to become a staff writer after expressing how much she had enjoyed it years prior.

Academically, McCarthy has taken an interest in science and English courses. She received a Boston College Book Award during her junior year and was inducted into the National Honor Society. A valued member of the girls' soccer team, as well as the indoor and outdoor track teams, McCarthy has been recognized for her accomplishments: she is a division 4 state champion in the 400-meter hurdles, a Patriot Ledger spring track all-star, and a Patriot Ledger spring track all-scholastic.

As for her senior year, McCarthy hopes to commit to college and enjoy her last year of high school with friends. Beyond SHS, she plans to continue her track career and study at a medium-sized university to become a nurse practitioner. McCarthy is eager to begin as a student journalist and will bring many talents to The Scituation!
