Each year, the Scituate Chamber of Commerce awards scholarships to SHS seniors. This year, they are giving out two awards, each worth $2,000. This is a considerable achievement, as the magnanimity of the Scituate business community stands strong even with the effects of COVID-19.
Pizza Palooza, the popular fundraising event that usually funds these scholarships, was canceled this year due to the pandemic. A virtual event is being held instead: If you mention the scholarship or Pizza Palooza to local pizza restaurants that are participating, $5 is donated toward the scholarship. This virtual Pizza Palooza event lasts until May 31st.
According to Chamber of Commerce representative Janet Bristol, community members who would like to donate to the Chamber of Commerce scholarships can do so by using PayPal: Paypal.me/SHSPIZZAPALOOZA. Alternatively, you can send a check in the mail to the Chamber of Commerce at P.O. Box 401, Scituate, MA, 02066. Every donation is greatly appreciated and contributes to the success of students in our community.
Bristol says the chamber and herself “realize the importance of reaching out to help in whatever way [they] can,” as students have persevered through a global pandemic.
