Abbey Johnston

Abbey Johnston, Staff Writer

A current Scituate High School senior, Abbey Johnston is excited to venture into her first official year working on The Scituation, with the support of her prior experience in Intro to Journalism during her sophomore year at Scituate High School. In addition to being a member of the Scituate High School Young Democrats Club, Abbey swims for the SHS swim team. Outside of school, Abbey is interested in boxing. Apart from her commitment to athletics, Abbey is the current president of the Best Buddies program and recently went to the Best Buddies Leadership Conference (BBCL) at Indiana University. Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the social, physical, and economic isolation of the more than 200 million people affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities. After high school, Abbey aspires to be a special education teacher. Abbey’s younger brother, a current sophomore at SHS, has inspired her to pursue a career dedicated to helping people with disabilities. In her pursuit of becoming a special education teacher, Abbey plans on attending college. Two schools, Boston University and Syracuse University, are on the top of her list. She has visited both schools and is hoping to attend one of the two.
