Senior Mark Kuklis will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on Scituate High School. He is a valued member of the tennis and wrestling teams, excels in several AP classes, and participates in numerous clubs. But there is a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to this multi-talented senior.
Kuklis, otherwise known as ‘Kook,’ has a passion for math and hopes to mold it into a career someday. AP Calculus is Kuklis’s favorite class, and accordingly, Mr. Parkins is his favorite teacher. Mr. Parkins said, “It has been a sincere pleasure to have Mark in my class for two straight years. He has a rare combination of natural intelligence, a desire to truly understand mathematics, and most importantly a great sense of humor.”
Kuklis hopes to continue his education at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, his top choice for college, where he would likely study business.
For the past four years Kuklis has been an invaluable member of the tennis team. Fellow teammate Richard Arnold said, “Kook is a great friend, great tennis player, and great teammate.” Kuklis continues his passion for the sport when he teaches tennis at the Scituate Youth Center in the summer. In addition to tennis, Kuklis has been a two year member of the wrestling team.
In true Scituate senior fashion, Kuklis is also involved in several other clubs and activities. He is a member of the math club, SADD, student government, and STUCO.
Though he will miss many aspects of SHS, most notably the teachers, Kuklis looks forward to leaving Scituate. He wants to travel and “explore the world,” including many European countries. Before he jets off, take a minute to get to know Mark Kuklis. Then you’ll be able to say you knew a Wake Forest Alumni who became the CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
