Winter is coming to Scituate High School, and the student body is more than excited for a new sporting season. Student athletes are getting ready for another exciting season of hockey, basketball, swimming, and more.

Girls and boys basketball are both coming back from a successful season and are looking forward to the new year ahead. Senior captain, Skylar Rojik says, “This is my last year, so I’m  hoping for a successful season and that the team will pull together and work hard.” The girls basketball team has an away game at Rockland this Friday, December 8th, for their first game of the season. Similarly the boys basketball team has their season opener on Friday facing Archbishop Williams at home.

Both girls and boys hockey are prepared for another season of early practices and riveting games. The girls varsity team will play at Hobomock Arenas on Wednesday, December 13th. The boys team will play a game against North Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on the 13th as well.

The varsity swim team is planning on making a splash this season. Senior captain Hannah Lydon says they are “really excited for the season,” Lydon said, “We have a lot of new swimmers, so we are expecting a great year.” The team’s first swim meet will be December 16th against Quincy High School.

The Scituate High School wrestling team will hold their first tournament at Scituate High School in the large gym on Saturday, December 9th. Their opponent has not been determined at this time. Senior captain Casey Boynton is feeling the added responsibility of leading the team. According to Boynton, “It’s very different this year because there is a lot more pressure with the expectations that I have for myself and that coaches have for me.”
