The Road to the Garden Continues: Boys Hockey Update

The Scituate High School Varsity Boys hockey team continued their impressive run in the Division II South sectional tournament with a 5-1 win over Westwood. On Wednesday night, at Bourne’s John Gallo Arena, SHS was propelled to victory as a result of three goals by junior David Murray, one goal by junior Ryan Harrigan, and one more goal by senior Jake McCarthy. This past Sunday, at the John Gallo Arena, the SHS Boys hockey team competed against Oliver Ames High School in the second round of the Massachusetts Division II South sectional tournament. The shutout win featured four goals from McCarthy, one goal from senior captain Matt Loud, and two goals each from junior Liam Walsh and junior Liam Norton, ultimately adding up to an impressive 9-0 victory. They are ranked as the #1 seed in Division II South Sectionals. They advanced through the first round of the playoffs with a win against Dedham at Asiaf in Brockton, the final score being 6-2. The hockey team’s outstanding regular season, consisting of a record of 18-2-1, brought major excitement and positivity throughout the Scituate community. The SHS Varsity Boys hockey team will play Medway, who defeated Canton in overtime, this Sunday at 1 PM, at John Gallo Arena, for the Division II South sectional championship and a chance to play for the state championship in TD Garden.
