On November 11, 2023, American veterans across the country will be honored for how they served their country. Each year, SHS senior Stella Bullman takes this important message to heart.
In the eighth grade, Bulman began writing letters to honor local veterans. Two years ago, she passed down the letter crafting to the elementary school students who make the “cutest cards,” according to Bullman.
With the help of Scituate Community Christmas, Bulman continues her volunteer efforts by stuffing the students’ letters in envelopes and addressing them to veterans. She commented, “We have all the addresses of veterans in Scituate, and a bunch of kids make the cards.”
Veterans Day is significant to Bulman’s entire family. She originally started making cards to “honor her dad.” Bulman’s father left high school during his senior year to pursue a career in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Iceland for eight years.
This year, Bulman is hosting a family breakfast to show her appreciation for all veterans across the country–including her father.
