What can be better than a blast from the past? Nothing when it comes to being able to experience Titanic in theaters! It’s been a long 15 years since this life shaping movie has been on the big screen, and it is long overdue. For a lot of us Titanic brought many firsts; we had never seen a movie over two hours, and we had never known a celebrity crush until Leonardo DiCaprio. The time has come to re-experience those firsts, except bigger and better and in 3D.
Starting April 1, Titanic 3D will be playing in theaters around the world. For a lot of us this is nothing special seeing as some of our favorite Disney movies such as The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast have already made a comeback in 3D. But for diehard Titanic fans, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Being a diehard Titanic lover myself, I have already subscribed to email updates telling me when I can buy my midnight premier tickets. If this sounds like it’s up your alley, simply go to www.titanic3d.com and subscribe. The best part is we even get our own Titanic-themed 3D glasses.
For a lot of us, the whole 3D aspect is a little unsettling. Some of the best movies have turned into doozies after adding 3D glasses. Avatar being one of those movies. It was amazing in 2D, but the 3D effects went over the top. When asking senior Korleen Sheridan what she thinks about Titanic in 3D she quickly said, “there are no words to describe it. I can’t contain my excitement!” Hence, nothing can be over the top when it comes to the Titanic. The key is to see it in an IMAX theater, where the screen is big enough so the 3D element is not destroyed. The closest IMAX theaters to Scituate are located in Reading, Natick, and Boston. So if seeing Leonardo DiCaprio’s face in 3D and crying over “My Heart Will Go On,” sounds like something you might like, check out Titanic 3D.
