Katie Whelan is the photo editor, who is looking forward to the upcoming school year. Katie has been a member of Student Council, the field hockey team, and serves as a homeroom mentor to incoming freshman. Something that takes up a lot of her time in school would be the select chorus. Having performed at Memorial Hall and Harvard in years past, Katie is excited to find out where the next big performance will be. Outside of school, it is a rare sighting to see this new photo editor without her camera. Between traveling to Niagra Falls, Canada and taking walks around Scituate this past summer, Katie has rarely let go of the shutter. Besides the trip to Canada, Katie spent her summer touring colleges, working as an intern in Braintree, paddleboarding in Freeport, Maine, and was also a volunteer for one of the C.O.R.S.E. foundation’s summer camps. While many students want to leave the South Shore for college, she plans on attending a college close to home, so close that the ocean is no more than two hours away. As the college search continues, and senior year begins, Katie is thrilled to be a part of the Scituation staff, and can’t wait to see what else the year brings.
