He walks out into the hallway, knees exposed and ankles clothed. He is tired, he is hunched forward, he is Christian Brady. Considered the Bruce Banner of his position, he may not turn green out on the turf, but he is unstoppable all the same. Brady is entering his senior year at Scituate High School and continuing his role as quarterback for Scituate Varsity for the third year in a row. He’s accompanied on the field by close friend and peer Scott Radding.
Radding ‘15, plays as linebacker for varsity and together the two have led their team to great heights. We got the opportunity to talk to Radding before the game to hear his feelings and anticipation for their upcoming game against long-time rivals, Cohasset on the 12th. “I haven’t played a game in months and having the first game home, being against Cohasset who we’ve always had a rival against, there’s no other feeling like it” said Radding.
Being upperclassmen, Brady and Radding are leaders both on and off the field. They can assure no hazing takes place behind the doors of their locker room. And the team’s chemistry has helped propel them to local recognition and many victories. “I would like to be remembered for being a leader” said Radding reminiscing back at his high school experiences. “I think that developing yourself enough that people are following you and respecting the decisions that you make is important.” The players don’t play for themselves, they play for their team, they play for their town, and they play for the thrill. And it’s that attitude that makes Scituate Football a force not even the Hulk could tear down.
