The Scituate Sailors hockey team (#2) played Nashoba Regional High School Wolves (#7) on Saturday, March 12, in the “Elite 8” of the playoffs–two great teams fighting to make their way to the Boston Garden to win the Division III state title.

Just 38 seconds in, Sailors senior captain Dylan McDonald scored on a breakaway. Staying up by just one point throughout the rest of the period, Sailors senior goaltender Cole Coyne and his defensemen were not letting anything past them. Going on to the 2nd period, junior Dan Brown and sophomore James Sullivan added two more goals to the scoreboard, making it 3-0 Sailors. With a good amount of hits and penalties from both teams throughout the period, the Sailors kept the 3-0 lead.

Going into the 3rd period, both teams were down a player–making 4 against 4. With it being a very competitive and aggressive battle, both teams made a few major hits throughout the 3rd period, and the referees had to break up several fights. Avoiding traffic on the ice, Sailors senior captain Bob Boyle and fellow junior teammates Teagan Pratt and Andrew Belsan all scored in the final period.

Nashoba eventually scored one, as the Sailors came out on top 6-1, and will advance to the final four and play the Hanover Hawks (#3), at Gallo Arena in Bourne on Tuesday, March 15th, at 5:15 PM. A notable Patriot League Rivalry, the Sailors have faced the Hawks twice already during the season, winning one and losing the other in overtime. The winner will advance and play at the TD Garden for the championship. You can purchase your tickets on gofan.co!
