On Thursday, December 20th, 19 SHS alums participated in a panel presentation highlighting experiences from their first or second years of college with SHS students. A variety of colleges were represented, and visiting students offered crucial information regarding roommates, education, finances, and activities on campus. SHS juniors and seniors attended separate presentations, which allowed them to ask questions pertinent to their stage of the college application process. After the presentations, Principal Wargo met with the SHS alumni to learn more about their transition to college life.

For juniors who are starting their college process, the panel presentation was informative: they heard pros and cons of each school and what the college search entails. For seniors who are currently applying to college or hearing back from colleges where they submitted early decision or early action applications, the information was pivotal in making decisions for their future.

SHS alumni who participated in the informational sessions attend colleges that are located across the United States–including California, Washington, Wisconsin, and Maine–or as close as Boston or Western Massachusetts. One student, who is attending college in Ireland, offered an international college experience perspective.

Many students have personal connections with the returning alumni–from teammates to siblings to friends–and they were thrilled to reunite. This is the third year college freshmen have been invited to meet with SHS juniors and seniors, and the guidance office expects this December tradition to continue.
