SHS senior Emily Whitman is sending love and compassion from Scituate High School to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (MSD) with a banner supporting the school and victims in Parkland, Florida. “Everyone here can sign the banner, and it’s just going to be love and support from us and our school so that they have something to look at when they go back to school,” she said. Officials initially asked students to send letters to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School so students there would feel loved by students around the country. However, due to the large amount of letters, they have now asked schools to send banners signed by students to show their support for the victims and survivors. Whitman plans on sending the SHS banner as soon as possible. In addition, she will be discussing safety plans for our school district with Superintendent Ron Griffin.  Whitman would like to work with him to ensure Scituate schools have the best procedures in place to handle emergencies.
