In the halls of Scituate, amidst the bustle of students, there is one remarkable senior whose presence brings a smile to everyone he passes–Ben DiPesa.
Known for his fun personality, DiPesa has been a role model at SHS–especially because he has maintained an unbroken streak of perfect attendance. This accomplishment has garnered the admiration of many teachers and students. While students typically miss school due to an occasional illness, DiPesa’s immune system appears as strong as his dedication. Admitting that on some days, he wasn’t super excited to walk through the doors of SHS, DiPesa remarked, “There’s always the Monday blues, but you have to power through it.”
For DiPesa, the journey began with a simple desire to be present and engaged in the daily rhythm of high school life. Expressing a fear of missing out, DiPesa said, “If I were to miss school, there’s a chance Tom Brady would be in the history hallway.” As the years passed, however, his dedication evolved into a personal challenge to defy the odds and keep up his consistency.
DiPesa’s presence at SHS every day made his fellow students happy. Senior Sophie Blanchard noted that DiPesa brought “sunshine to the rainiest days.” Junior Jack Dalicandro relied on DiPesa for a ride to school; therefore, his perfect attendance never left him nervous that someone wouldn’t pick him up.
With plans to attend the University of Massachusetts, DiPesa stands on the edge of a new chapter in his life. He hopes to extend his exceptional attendance record throughout college and into the professional world. As he embarks on the next phase of his journey, one thing is certain—wherever life may lead him, Ben DiPesa will continue to leave a mark on the world around him, one day at a time.
