2018 was the year of warmth and comfort in the fashion industry. There has been loads of experimenting with textures, prints, and styles in the coat world–in particular fluffy coats. These coats were 2018’s cuddliest trend. Also known as “teddy bear coats,” this blanket-like fashion statement comes in any color one can imagine. These pieces were introduced by fashion lines in 2017, but they began to hit the streets in the fall of 2018.

Cropped, trench coat, or zip-up are among the various styles these jackets range from. Urban Iutfitters, Zara, and the local boutique C.T Outfitters are a few of the most popular places to buy these pieces. Based off of a social media poll given to a handful of students at SHS, 59% own a fluffy jacket. These faux fur pieces can be styled numerous ways. Junior Caroline Stevenson would style a black fluffy coat with an all black outfit and a “pop of color” for the shoes. Senior style icon Charlotte Falvey would style a tan teddy bear coat with light wash ripped jeans and a plain white tee. It is unlikely that this trend will die down in 2019–but we should expect an expansion to the craze.
