¨All aboard the Polar Express!¨ We hope you had your tickets ready for one of the most anticipated events of the holiday season–the annual Polar Express train ride held in Scituate on Sunday, December 10th. The event consists of a train ride from Greenbush to the “North Pole.” During the ride, participants enjoyed many Christmas songs and a reading of the Polar Express book. The Polar Express would not be complete without cookies and milk, topped off with a visit from Santa himself.

This year, lines for the train ride were filled with excited kids wearing pajamas. They were smiling from ear to ear as they saw holiday characters, from polar bears to Santa’s elves. This popular fundraiser for SHORE (Scituate High Opportunities and Resources for Education) could not be done without a team of Scituate High School student and parent volunteers. Many long hours went into the organization and preparation of this event. The cooperation of the community coming together to organize and plan made this Scituate tradition a memorable event.

SHS senior Rachel Castagnetti and sophomore Will Davis both volunteered at the Polar Express. Their story illustrates the holiday spirit and what it means to be a part of a community event. We hope you enjoy the video, and we wish you happy holidays!
