Pumpkin Spice Latte Season on the South Shore

Kelly Granatino, Staff Writer

With the temperature finally dropping to the low 50’s in the morning, pumpkin spice latte season has finally begun.

Though it may seem as though Starbucks is the only store with a pumpkin spice latte, coffee shops throughout the South Shore brew must-try fall lattes as well. Here are some of my favorites:

Seabird Coffee & Co, Cohasset, MA:

Seabird is a small coffee shop right in the heart of Cohasset Village. What draws me to Seabird is their fresh croissants and wide variety of espresso drinks. Hoping to try one of Seabird’s seasonal fall drinks, I ordered a spiced espresso drink. The drink is strong with an abundance of spices, mostly those of cinnamon and nutmeg, but not a very strong taste of coffee. Although it wasn’t my personal favorite, Seabird Coffee & Co is definitely a shop to check out–whether you’re looking for a fun fall drink or just a simple cold brew.

Lucky Finn Cafe, Scituate, MA:

Even if the coffee tasted horrible, Lucky Finn’s location would make up for the taste. Luckily, the coffee is outstanding. Lucky Finn Cafe, located in the center of beautiful Scituate Harbor, offers a surprisingly large food menu as well as a wide variety of coffees, teas, and espressos. Lucky Finn’s pumpkin pie latte is, without a doubt, one of the best fall drinks on the South Shore. With a sweet taste of pumpkin puree mixed with espresso, the drink is sure to make your autumn mornings.

French Memories, Cohasset, MA:

French Memories is a quaint coffee shop found in Cohasset Village. It is widely known for its fresh-baked croissants, sweets, and bread. When you open the door, you are immediately greeted by the smell of freshly baked bread. The French Memories pumpkin spice latte is flavorful but lacks pumpkin flavoring in comparison to the other shops. If you are a pumpkin spice fan but don’t love when the taste overpowers the coffee, a French Memories’ latte is perfect for you.

Slacktide Coffee Roasters, Marshfield, MA

Slacktide Coffee Roasters is located near Levitate Surf and Skate and Mexicana Surf Cantina in Marshfield. Offering a great selection of fresh roasted coffee and espresso drinks, Slacktide is known for its large, homemade donuts and delicious sandwiches. Their pumpkin spice latte takes the cake for the perfect latte during a brisk autumn day. The staff is welcoming and friendly and makes the drinks in a timely manner. This latte has a stronger espresso taste than other shops, but the pumpkin spices balance it to make it perfect.

No matter where you choose to go for coffee, take advantage of everybody’s favorite season of the year while it lasts–PSL season!
