  1. Love Actually is a movie worth watching every season. The various relationships intertwined throughout the film offer something for every type of viewer. Liam Neeson and his step son’s storyline is heartwarmingly adorable. Alan Rickman (aka Severus Snape, RIP), and Emma Thompson’s characters offer a bitter and heartbreaking aspect, while Hugh Grant’s and Martine McCutcheon’s characters offer a bit of comedy. All types of people can enjoy this movie, even if they don’t like romance, making it perfect to watch with friends or a date on Valentine’s day.
  2. Roman Holiday is a lesser known Audrey Hepburn film compared to her classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s: however, it is equally as charming and even more romantic (if that is even possible). The movie follows a princess (Hepburn), who escapes from her royal duties for a few days in Rome, and an American reporter who falls in love with her, played by Gregory Peck. The movie is filled with all Hepburn’s usual style and charm that will enchant you, but the bittersweet ending will leave viewers a little brokenhearted.
  3. Crazy Stupid Love is perfect for the people who love comedy as much as romance. The goofy storyline is relatable, and at the same time romantic. If you don’t like comedy or romance, you should at least watch it just to see Ryan Gosling.
  4. Silver Linings Playbook is a bit of a darker romantic comedy. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are an acting power couple that are have consistent chemistry in all of their films. They work well together in this film that brings to center stage the issue of mental illness that is often not talked about in regular media. That alone makes the movie worth a watch, not to mention it is hilarious and romantic at the same time.
  5. This list would not be complete if a Nicholas Sparks movie wasn’t on it. However, it is impossible to choose between any of his films because they are all perfect for all the hopeless romantics out there. There are a plethora of movies to choose from. You can watch The Last Song, and reminisce about the good old days when Miley Cyrus wasn’t swinging on a wrecking ball and she and Liam Hemsworth were still dating. Or you can go for The Notebook, a classic standby that never gets old — even after the hundredth time watching it. One thing is for sure: no matter which one of Sparks’s movies you watch, you will be left crying tears of joy and sadness.
