As only the lucky seniors have been able to escape the wrath of the numerous snow days throughout this school year, June has become a dreadful month for the rest of Scituate High. With the endless school year yet to come to a close, the summer heat is seeping through the walls of Scituate High School distracting students from schoolwork.
While hitting the beach is no option for Scituate High School students this June, it is important for students to learn to deal with the relentless heat.
As most students have experienced, the classrooms within the high school are never in congruence with the outside temperatures. Varying within the school, classrooms’ temperatures constantly range from sauna chambers to ice packed coolers depending on the hallway. As the history hallways is commonly believed to have the most treacherous conditions in humid weather. Sophomore Julia Francese observed “the history hallway faces the most sun, so it is not uncommon to see a history room with two or three fans going when it starts to get hot out.” With no desire to make a history class more strenuous than necessary, dress light for oncoming history classes! With many more early mornings ahead, students must learn the tricks to keeping comfortable in all corners of the school.
Each morning the guessing game begins as students struggle in choosing appropriate attire for the ever-changing climate of the school. To avoid discomfort throughout the day layers are the best route to go. Start the outfit of this June with your favorite pair of shorts to keep you comfortable in the hot sticky seats. Top the outfit off by layering a light jacket or sweatshirt over a short sleeve top for those cold breezy walks into school. The flexibility of a layered outfit allows students to keep calm and collected in every classroom throughout the day.
Flowy, flowy, flowy! Walking through the halls of Scituate High these next weeks check the attire of peers. The trending summer style is modeled throughout the building. Sophomore Natalie Knapp said, “nice dresses and maxi skirts are really in right now.” The light feeling provided by dresses and skirts creates a comfortable outfit when weathering the heat. In the hot school days it is best to keep cool in flow attire. Tight shirts can be a high maintenance deal, proving flowing pieces the way to go.
While teachers have prohibited the use of personal fans as a means to keep cool, there are many other ways to deal with the heat when sweltering from one’s desk. To prevent breaking out in a panic think ahead! Each morning prepare to have a cold refreshing beverage at hand throughout the day. The best way to guarantee ones drink will be satisfying and refreshing is to freeze the water the night before. Bringing frozen water into school, the drink will melt to a flawless chilled temperature by second period when the heat begins to suffocate the halls of Scituate high.
The weather is constantly unpredictable and shocking. The increasing hot temperature is soon to dominate the halls of Scituate High for the oncoming weeks. Keep one step ahead of the heat with the tricks of the trade!
