Lauren Montgomery
When viewing the Scituate varsity volleyball game, you can catch Lauren Montgomery leading the team playing her “favorite sport in the whole world” and this year she will be leading the journalism team to success as well. Lauren has been a member of the volleyball team since her freshman year when the interest sparked, the same year the program was introduced at Scituate High School. Playing middle hitter or middle blocker, she’s a crucial member of the team. Active in the SHS community, Lauren participates in Best Buddies, ADL, and SHS’s literary magazine, Fathom. Besides surviving senior year and spending hours at the court, you can find Lauren scanning groceries, handling customer service, or managing apparel at the Village Market in Scituate Harbor. Although she knows it’s not a forever job, Lauren enjoys the people she works with. Since her friend recommended the job to her, she now works 14 hours a week. Graduating in 2018 and abandoning her Village Market friends, Lauren is unsure of her future profession although she has some options. As a little girl, Lauren played piano for 2 years and then trumpet, but now those interests have changed. An interest in special education and traveling as a food photographer are among Lauren’s interests but she also has a plan for a wine and tapas restaurant after retiring. Seeing the world is important to Lauren but she faced the reality that she wouldn’t go to college far away, for costs reasons and wanting to stay close to her family. American University of Rome fascinates Lauren, although she would rather travel after college. This cat-lover is a friendly face on the Scituation that everyone can turn to, whenever we need some smiles.
