An exciting addition to the Scituation staff, senior Kylene True is hoping to use her platform as a reporter to get the student body’s opinions on what they want to read in their school newspaper. True excels in academics, particularly English and math, as she is a member of the National Math Honor Society and competes on the SHS Math Team. While taking the English elective Introduction to Public Speaking (also with Ms. Hall), her interest was piqued in journalism after reading an article published in The Scituation. Consequently, she chose to sign up for the class as a way to utilize her voice as a student. In addition to being a successful student, True also has a full plate of extracurriculars, including Interact Club, which strives to improve the Scituate community. She also participates in student government as a class representative and is the manager of the girls' tennis team. As a member of the class of 2019, True has focused on several aspirations for the future. An affinity for biology and traveling has led to a possible career as a traveling nurse. True hopes to travel to Ireland and volunteer at Habitat for Humanity. When she’s not pursuing academic or extracurricular interests, you can catch True at Atlantic Bagel, where she recommends you order an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. At home, True enjoys walking her dog to unwind and listening to music. When asked about her favorite genre of music, True insisted that she loves listening to all genres, including, but not limited to, country, rap, pop, and alt-rock. This kind and open-minded attitude will surely be valued as she comes into her own as a reporter for The Scituation this year!
