Junior Allie Moore has been hitting the slopes in a snowboarding rampage for the past decade, and now her hard work is paying off. This year is Moore’s second time qualifying for the United States of America Snowboard Association Nationals on Copper Mountain in Colorado. Moore said the first time she made it to Nationals she could have done better if not for her lack of experience, but she is excited to give it her best this time around.

The first week of April will be an exciting time for Moore and her family. Moore’s family has always been supportive of her snowboarding; she said her mom “goes up every weekend to New Hampshire,” and her sister is usually there watching her and cheering her on. Moore’s family seems to love the sport, especially since her sister usually hits the slopes with her, and her dad was a snowboarder.

Moore said when she started snowboarding it became obvious to her that the sport is male-dominated. She said, “I kinda wanted to get in there with the boys. You know, prove them wrong.” Moore has been enjoying the sport ever since she was a young girl, improving her skills and her techniques as the years went on.

The Scituation wishes Moore all the best with her training, practicing, and competitions. Staff members will be cheering her on from Scituate, Massachusetts, all the way to Copper Mountain, Colorado.
