SHS Music Department traveled to Orlando, Florida

From Thursday, April 26, through Monday, April 30th, members of the Scituate High School Music Department embarked on a trip to Orlando, Florida.

In addition to spending time at Disney World, students in the choir had the opportunity to attend a clinic at the Osceola County School for the Arts.  According to Fine Arts Department Chair Jim Thomas,  students received valuable feedback from their clinician and  performed with the Osceola Choir.

Students in the Symphonic band experienced a Disney workshop entitled, “You’re Instrumental.”  While at the workshop, students learned about the skills needed to be a successful recording artist. They also had the opportunity to record the trailer music to the animation “Frozen.”

Both ensembles gave successful performances at the Disney Springs performance venue.  Thomas said SHS students did an “exceptional job from start to finish!”  He extended his thanks to the music staff, chaperones and trip nurse for their help in making this year’s trip a reality.
